A Brief Discussion on Cast Moulding Technology
Moulding is described as the technique of manufacturing
by carving liquid or flexible raw substances via a mold or matrix, which has
been designed by utilising a pattern or model of the final object. But, casting
means an entire manufacturing process in which molten metal is inoculated or
discharged into a mold to form an object of a projected shape. Cast moulding
technology has assisted in
producing several life-changing things such as Cast moulding contact lenses. It incorporatess
depositing a treatable mixture of polymerizable monomers in a mold cavity
created by two mold sections, treating the monomer mixture, and stripping the
mold assembly and exteriminating the lens.
This
invention equips with a technique for cast-moulding hydrogel contact lenses, especially
silicone hydrogel contact lenses by including plastic molds of a poly
(cycloalkylene-dialkylene terephthalate) copolymer. These plastic molds do not need
to be degassed and conserved in an oxygen-free atmosphere (e.g., N2 or Ar)
before utilizing them for cast-moulding silicone hydrogel contact lenses in the
absence of oxygen and subsequent silicone hydrogel lenses can still impart high
ion relatively penetrability and moderately low variation in targeted optical
power, when associated with silicone hydrogel lenses composed by utilising a conventional
mold material, such as polypropylene. The invention also strives to offer
plastic molds for cast-moulding silicone hydrogel contact lenses. Now, manufacturing
contact lenses is no longer a
daunting task.
